"Industrial Strength Training"
Our studio is located inside a rustic
warehouse in Albany, CA. With 30 ft. ceilings
and exposed beams, the aesthetic of the
gym reflects our industrial strength approach
to fitness. The facility not only houses
training tools suitable for experts and
novices alike, but also enough floor space
for real physical training to occur.
Unlike most gyms, we've purposely avoided
cluttering our facility with machines, allowing
our clients ample room to move freely and
train athletically. We employ free weights,
such as Olympic bars and bumpers,
dumbbells, kettlebells, and medicine balls.
We incorporate bodyweight exercises utilizing
still rings, climbing ropes, and pull-up bars.
Testimonial:
"After more than 15 years of pretty hard core cycling, about three years
ago, I completely burned out and quit riding. About a year later I found
Maya and Steve. I had worked with trainers in the past, but working out
with Maya and Steve was a whole new ball game… For the last two
years, they have focused on developing my core strength,
explosiveness and speed. Eventually, I began feeling that I was in the
best overall physical shape of my life, but even though Maya and Steve
reassured me constantly that the training of the last two years would
also improve my endurance, I had my doubts. It was all put to the test
three weeks ago when I agreed to ride with a long-time cycling buddy.
Because I had ridden only twice in the last two years, and each ride
had been less than 25 miles, I assumed my friend would have mercy
on me and opt for an easy ride. No way! Before I knew it, I was in the
middle of a 65 mile ride complete with major headwinds and a lot of
climbing. Not only did I finish the ride, but thanks to Maya and Steve, I
rode incredibly well – great wind, great leg strength, and I passed my
friend on some of the steeper climbs..."

Training on Your Feet
Hippocrates, the father of scientific
medicine, claimed, "Walking is man's best
medicine." We absolutely concur. Since
most sports require athletes to stand, walk,
run, and jump, we believe that's how our
clients should train - on their feet. With the
exception of the bench press and supine
abdominal exercises, most of our training
occurs on the feet. Selectorized machines
that require the trainee to sit while strength
training does not develop or improve athletic
performance.
Training on your feet will, among other
things, help you develop balance, stability,
accuracy, and agility.

Testimonial:
"Steven and Maya are trustworthy, respectful, responsible, caring
trainers that will help you achieve all your goals in physical and mental
conditioning. As a strength coach, I was very impressed with their
knowledge of the Olympic Lifts, kettlebell training, functional training as
well as basic and functional health programs for all populations,
including the elderly, the athletes, the mom's and dad's of our youth, and
our younger generation."
