IC Staffers JD, Nicki, Brittany, Kenny, and Bear Bear lunching at Pasta Pomodoro today to support Cameron School for Early Intervention.

Eat at Pasta Pomodoro in El Cerrito Plaza today and 20% of your bill (be sure to give your server the promotion flyer, or tell them about the fundraiser)  will go to support special education in our local community.  The Cameron School for Early Intervention has helped many families at the IC (and our community at large) whose children face developmental challenges.  We are beyond grateful!  With resources dwindling for special education in public schools, this wonderful little place needs your support.  Work off the pasta at boot camp in the morning!

Congratulations to Lauren and Matthew Todd on the arrival of little Marcus!

“Dear Steve,
You got it. Marcus was 6lb 15oz, 19″ tall. We went into the hospital around 4:30pm on Thursday, and Marcus was born at 3:06am on Friday morning. Lauren only pushed for an hour, and honest to god, didn’t break a sweat!! We came home the next day and are loving our little bundle of love.

Jeneane, Earl, Mark, Jim, John, Tracy, Wendy, Lisa M, Jeremy, and Lisa B. (Matt C. was missed during his vacation in Mexico!)

Congratulations to the IC Softball Team for finishing this season with a 7-1 record!  These powerful & resilient players went into the championship game, with no break, immediately after beating their playoff rivals 17-16 in overtime.  The IC has now earned the reputation as the most feared team in the league!  Until next season… Go IC!

IC rock stars, Ann and Mark, will be moving to San Mateo next month and we are sad to say today was their last day at the Chamber.  Combined, they have lost over 100 lbs. with us in less than one year!

Here is what Ann had to say about their journey:

“In my fat pic I was around 230; the post pic I am 165.  I think I was around 190 when I joined the IC ~ now I’m slimmer with a lot more muscle.  :)   Pretty dramatic change that couldn’t be done without IC workouts.  In general my weight has been the most stable in my life training here.  Really gonna miss it!

I will forever be appreciative and grateful for such an inspiring, positive & driven community of athletes ~ Being encouraged & pushed beyond what I thought were my capabilities (out of water).  Never underestimate what you give to your members as it has deeply transformed our lives on every level!!! We’ve gained confidence, a lot of strength, and Mark remains off prednisone… priceless.

I’m just SO grateful to have experienced your program; I’ll miss the creative and challenging workouts.  What was once a struggle has become a routine ~ I wish you & your family the best!  Never underestimate the difference you make; you’ve completely changed our lives!
Together we are 100lbs less because of you & the IC!  That’s a lot less baggage!”

Newton Casemiro is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.  Unless you ask him, you will not know his complete curriculum vitae.  Newton is currently one of the top Brazilian Jiu Jitsu athletes in the nation.  He most recently won the Gold Medal in the open division at the American National Championships.  He is also a 2x National Brazilian Champion in Judo.  When not competing, he can be found dancing, teaching, helping people, and training at the IC.
