Happiness and Health

Melissa F. and Wendy working on increasing their happiness ratio
This month’s issue of IDEA Fitness Journal is dedicated to happiness and the “role it plays in overall wellness.” Here are some interesting facts cited from Sonja Lyubomirsky, PhD, about “what happy do” that unhappy people generally do not. According to her research, happy people:
- devote a great amount of time to nurturing and enjoying relationships
- make physical exercise a weekly and daily habit
- are comfortable expressing gratitude
- have stresses and even tragedies, but are able to cope in the face of challenges
- are often the first to offer help to others
- are optimistic about their futures
- savor life’s pleasures and try to live in the present moment
- are deeply committed to lifelong goals and ambitions

Ok Sayaka, your dad is ummm AMAZING! When he’s visited IC on occasion, I want to talk to him, but I’m too self-conscious that he can read my thoughts and sense my fear of him. LOL, but true! I mean, his work for the CIA is absolutely intimidating and then of course, there is Judo. Do I call him Dr. or Sensei? School us Sayaka! I know you are an Olympian, but some of us are just as starstruck by your dad!!!
Maya! How are you? I haven’t seen you recently! Your comment made me laugh. A lot of people are intimidated by my dad, which I find comical because to me he’s just “dad”. Don’t feel shy to approach him and pick him brain! He loves what he does and is filled with so much knowledge about so many things it’s pretty crazy. In answer to your question, it depends on the setting. At the dojo, he’s Sensei, at school he’s “Dr. Matsumoto”. Other then that, he’s just “David”!
Happy people and happy dogs go to the Ice Chamber!!!
Just seeing my Melissa and Wendy make me happy!
