The 2012 Victoria Kettlebell Sport Classic was one of the sweetest meets I’ve experienced to date! Linda Gilmour and family put on an exciting, professional, and flawless meet with everything from a free ART therapist onsite to Kettlebell cupcakes for all the participants. Aside from lifting in a state-of-the-art venue, we had the opportunity to see some old friends and make new ones in this beautiful British Columbia city. Cate Imes (she put on a clinic with the 22kg snatch – btw), Charlie Fornelli, and many Victoria Kettlebell Team members put on a high quality show by upholding WKC standards in all their sets.
This was also a special occasion for the IC as Melissa Swanson becomes the 6th Master of Sport on our team! She claimed the Biathlon rank by performing 130 jerks and 130 snatches with the 20kg kettlebell. Melissa has worked tirelessly for the past two years to make her mark on the sport and today she solidified her place amongst the best in the country.
Surya clinches her second “Best Lifter Award” of her career by out-repping everyone in the Biathlon total (moving 11,968 pounds in less than 20 minutes).
Brenda hit a personal best in the 14kg Biathlon and now moves comfortably into the 16kg division.
Jen Cord, with only 2 weeks of KB sport training for this event (post injury), put on a beautiful showing with the 16kg bell.
I regret that Maya had to miss this momentous occasion since every one of our lifters achieved personal accolades today. She would have loved to have been there to witness the achievements first hand.
I’m extremely proud of all of these lady lifters. I continue to learn from them everyday!
