A for Effort

The folks from Industrial Strength are putting up some impressive numbers. We’ve been meaning to write about their progress for some time now, but it’s quite difficult to highlight accolades when they keep improving week after week. One person in particular caught everyone’s attention last night when he pulled 405 lbs from the floor.
Matt C. started last October with 240 lbs x 3. Then in January, he pulled 325 lbs x 3. Well, this month I think he’s gonna hit 415 x 1. And to put things into perspective, we only deadlift once a week – if that!
Another thing to consider; like many at the IC, Matt is a father, husband, and business owner so training time is limited. The fact that he is shattering athletic records speaks volumes about his dedication and consistency. Congratulations Matt!

Matt is an absolute BEAST! The scary thing is that he has so much more in him. Strong work Matt and thanks for showing us how its done on the deadlift and squats.
amazing!! keep it up, matt!
What an amazing progres Matt! Congratulations!
whoa! big guy! Huge!
This is what we love about the IC-real people doing the real work with amazing results! Big congrats Matt!
Matt is animal. Not fit for release in inhabited areas. Somebody put this guy back on the chain.
LOL! Nick. Yes, I must agree. Matt should be caged again. But every time we do that he gets stronger. Just last week he C&J 190 lbs. with minimal practice. And I swear, he hasn’t deadlifted in a like a month but pulled the bar from the floor like a toothpick.
Jen, what are you cooking at home?
It’s been wonderful to watch Matt’s progress. Not only has he excelled in Industrial Strength with his deadlifts, C&J and bench press…his inner athlete shines whether he’s competing on Monday night Battle Zone or in a Core Class
Matt, you are definitely a Tough IC Mudder.
Re: what Matt eats, just call him “Mr. Protein.” If there’s no meat at the table, he ain’t eatin’. I think he sneaks protein shakes during the day, too. And lately he’s been talking about buying an extra freezer so he can order half a grass-fed cow…and I think he’s serious…
I’m proud of you sweetie, and thanks IC, you’ve given Matt an athletic outlet that he was sorely missing! But Steven, can you please let him win more often on Monday nights?
Hahaha Jen! I think he’s serious too. But can you please hold him back for the sake of Nick’s ego?
Oh, I don’t control the “wins” on Monday nights. I just oversee the justice.
oh man Steve, the ego crack was just low, it’s not nice to be so truthful
Strong and coordinated! Matt hits a mean drive off the tee – got to play with him at the Bandworks golf tournament last week (strong IC representation from team Martinez, Paul Price, Matt and of course Jeremy S) and the top two spots in the long-drive competition were Jeremy and Matt. A special shout out to the IC for being a sponsor and supporting the good works of IC members!
Y’all are too nice! Thank you for the wonderful comments and it’s an absolute pleasure to train with all of you. I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of the IC!
Btw Nick, I’ll stop Industrial Strength if you promise to never suggest a ‘sandbag mile’ to Steven again…deal?
Oh that is it matt. That is it. Steve, next Saturday, Sandbag mile, Pullaburpees, Push up max out, sled drives. I dare you. Bring it.
Note to self, do not come to next Saturday’s core workout. Check.
