Surviving Mommyhood

Mother of four, Rebekah V., with Team 0600

Rebekah joined the IC to lose her post-baby weight and to just get in shape after a significant hiatus from exercise… well, do four children really count as a hiatus?  Coming from someone who loves watching Star Wars as much as she loves reading Pride and Prejudice, is it any surprise that Rebekah fits right in around here?

Immediately following her first intro session, Jessica made a quick prediction about Rebekah… Jess said, “She has the right attitude to reach all of her fitness goals and then some.  I think she’ll be very successful.”  Now that Rebekah has proven Jessica right by losing close to 10 pounds, Rebekah’s got more big goals to think about this month in hopes of winning the latest IC Challenge.  In the meantime, please feel free to give her a High 5 next time you see her walking back to her car with an endorphin glow!

Thank you for the inspiration Rebekah!

Any mom of four kids already deserves much respect. But I always admire the extra commitment it takes for busy moms to give themselves time too, it’s so easy to lose yourself in the needs of your family! I’m sure you have discovered that the benefits of your personal health benefit not just you, but everyone around you. Good for you, Rebekah!

agreed Jen! To me the “movie stars” and such of this world are no match nor that inspirational for me. It’s the real mom’s that make their workouts work and take care of the kids, house, jobs, etc.that are true inspiration. Great job Rebekah, and all the IC moms. Way to work it.

Wow, what a great feeling to be recognized this way! I would like to thank the academy but mostly I need to thank all the little people that made this possible. Seriously, though, I have learned so much at the IC from all of the trainers who have taken the time to answer my questions and encourage me when I get impatient or discouraged. They have given me so many tools to succeed. I have spent the last ten years putting on baby weight and taking it off (are you familiar with the myth of sisyphus?) and I always obsessed about the numbers on the scale but the concept of body fat percentage and strength as measures of progress has totally liberated me. I want to nourish my body and I never thought I would be worried about losing too much weight because it might mean I had lost hard earned muscle! So thanks for everything Icechamber People, especially this shout out. It is very encouraging. I do have one confession to make. This picture was taken on my birthday and I didn’t do any sit ups or burpees:)

It’s always fun seeing hard working people from the other classes highlighted; it’s great to see their hard work paying off!

I’m so glad that you are nurturing yourself so you can help take care of your family. It’s a hard thing to prioritize and value when time is limited. We can’t wait to watch you continue to hit your milestone goals!

Rebekah, I wrote about Jess’ comment on your first day because I was so lucky to witness it. :-) When I saw this photo, I was shocked at the progress you’ve made in such a short, yet healthy amount of time. You deserve all the recognition in the world for doing the REAL hard work which in my opinion begins the moment you get back home from the IC.

Congratulations on reaching this first step!

Rebekah you are the real deal!! Congrats on all of your work !! We will always be here to cheer you on!

Rebekah is an inspiration to us all at 6 am with such a positive attitude… Not to mention a fun disposition. She kept me honest the other day with the real version of hip dips — or whatever you call ‘em…. She allowed no sloughing off — with a smile! Both hard to do so early in the morning.
The 4 children thing is simply awe inspiring from a single child perspective.
Can’t wait to get back and see her progress! Thank you so much for your dedication and example!
