Elliot Chin is a new dad that has gone from sleep deprived to energized. When he started in Boot Camp with Team 0700 ten months ago, he lacked the stamina to complete the workouts and desperately wanted to do a pull-up. Today, he is rocking with the Core class on a regular basis doing things he didn’t think was possible!

Some ideas for y’all

Deep Thoughts, Videos, Working Smart | October 20, 2009

Melissa sent us this crazy video. This guy has some moves we can all learn from.

Annie Wins Gold at Rendez-Vous Canada!!!

From USA Judo (Oct. 18, 2009): “After taking much of this season off to rehabilitate an injury, Shiraishi’s gold medal in the 48kg division was her second international medal in less than a month.

A silver medalist at the U.S. Open in September, Shiraishi dominated her opponents in Canada, winning each of her four matches by ippon, including a victory over 2009 Senior Nationals bronze medalist Angela Creutzberger (Ballston, N.Y. / USA Judo National Training Site at the Jason Morris Judo Center).

Shiraishi’s gold medal also will improve her ranking in the division, moving her up to the #1 slot on the USA Judo Senior Elite National Roster.”

Special thanks to Coach Sayaka Matsumoto for being by her side and strategizing each match, Coach Thomas Henry for his excellent S&C programming,  and everyone at the IC for their continued support.  We are edging closer to the 2012 Olympic games!

Cheetah Invasion

We received this awesome video from the Speedy Cheetahs (Albany – Berkeley Soccer Club) – kicking off their 2009 team party at the IC:

Go team – what a blast!

Redefine

karenking

We received this wonderful and inspiring passage from Karen King this morning.  Karen is another IC Supermom, Boot Camp die-hard, and weight loss winner.  Thank you for sharing Karen!

___________________________________________________________

“I have recently re-learned one of life’s fun little lessons: success  is 10% talent and 90% perseverance.  And of course, success is a moving target.

Being a big, tall girl in a family of petite women, I am not what  you’d call best friends with weights, scales, and measurements. So, when I joined the Ice Chamber just about exactly a year ago, I  suffered through the original weigh-in, etc., then did my very best to ignore the stats of 196 lbs., 35.2 BF, and 28.9 BMI. I set my sight on  “improving my diet” (read changing my diet as little as possible!), “just feeling better and stronger” … and maybe squeezing into those size 14 jeans that were too tight.

Well, after a year, I’m still no better friends with the old scale (I am blissfully ignorant of how much I weigh), but I do feel MUCH better and stronger.  And, guess what? Those size 14 jeans, fit, then were loose, then were just plain too big.  I went shopping a few weeks ago.  I bought and comfortably wear a size 6!

I am very grateful to you all for your encouragement and skill.  And I’m grateful to the whole 10 AM and now 9 AM crews for inspiring me, challenging me, and the occasional high five.

Now let’s redefine success again!”

What’s age got to do with it?

craigsterry

At 50 years young this month, Craig Sterry is more fit than most people half his age.  He once weighed 360lbs and carried a host of health issues including sleep apnea.  But you would never know it today since he is now a Level III Kettlebell Sport athlete within the WKC Rankings.

Craig has been with the IC since July of 2006 and is one of our most celebrated heroes!

Pulling Forward

lina

Lina can easily drag 70lbs across 80 feet from a seated position.  She proved it this evening.  When Lina started over a year ago, she was concerned about losing a few pounds.  Over time however, she expanded her idea of health and fitness to include much more than weight loss.  Today, she is one of the many superstars of the IC Core group.  Go Lina!
