One World Football Project
Tim Jahnigen is helping to better the world one ball at a time. Check out this intimate interview about the One World Football Project, an international philanthropic effort Tim is spearheading alongside a well known singer-songwriter-activist. They’re launching their global endeavor at this year’s United Nations World Peace Day celebration to be held in Afghanistan on September 21, 2009. The One World Football Project will be donating 36,000 indestructible soccer balls to children in Kabul that day!

Tim, what a great story! Thanks for all of your amazing efforts to help improve the lives of others.
Wow this is so awesome, can I post? Just an incredible confluence of ideas from the people who can make it happen. I’m so happy for all the children who will receive one of these balls! Thanks and congrats! (Oh, and don’t be shy about bringing S—g by the IC, say, one Saturday morning?
)
Tim,
You are an inspiration to all of us. What is impossible? Nothing.
Fantastic job my friend!
I’m crying! S—g is responsible for my career, which started at a S—g Concert when I came across an Amnesty International booth! I’m a teacher now, which I have always approached as a form of activism… we’ve got to teach our kids to stand up and be counted! You asked for our support – please let us know how. You can count on King Middle School as partners in your project. There are IC parents of kids at King who might come on board too…
Right on,
mb
You’re a humble, gracious, and generous man Tim. Thank you for sharing your story.
I had the same reaction when Tim showed us the prototype a few months ago MB! Tim is so eloquent–you can hear his genuine heart. How can anyone say no to this? Please let us know what the next step is Tim! We’re all behind you guys here…
What incredible hearts and minds work their bodies out in our midst. No wonder the rush is not only physical when you get through the workout!
How proud we are of you, Tim, for your inspiring INNOVATION and ACTiON… and just plain being awake and alive enough to put 2 + 2 together to make… was it 36,000 for World Peace Day?
That is so incredible … I am so moved by your kindness and selflessness …
Tim, so let us all know how we can help. Sounds like the whole IC is behind you!
Tim, you’re awesome and inspiring.
WOW!
thanks so much for sharing your story – absolutely incredible and inspiring!
please keep us updated as i would be happy to contribute to this as i can just see the smiles on the kids faces!!
You go my brother! Don’t let anything stop you! I will back you to the end, and beyond. Thanks for dinner 2, with many more to follow I hope!
Hey all,
I’ve been so busy of late that I hadn’t thought to check comments here until a friend told me about the wonderful comments piling up.
Thank you all, my IC friends, you all inspire me too!
As it stands, the big give in Afghanistan is morphing and delayed.
But balls were given away yesterday in Rwanda, Steven will post the picture soon, I’m still in shock that it is actually now real.
A friend and fellow benefactor Bobby Sager gave the balls out. He is also making sure that this project happens. I didn’t know this until recently but he is The Philanthropist. In other words, he is the inspiration for the new NBC show The Philanthropist so NBC may be doing a profile on my two friends, I may fit in there somewhere, being the inventor and all.
Bless you all for your kind words and support. As the IC family we will all have an opportunity to contribute. We’re still figuring out how.
The One World Futbol Project has begun!
One World,

More power to you! Helga
While visiting the western side of the island of Bali in Indonesia, a place called Medewi I was invited by a local kid to watch a football game in a field. The entire community of about 1000 people were having the greatest time of their lives cheering their local teams and they were the most poor people I had ever encountered. They also were some of the most happy people I had ever seen. You could tell that the soccer ball they had was very old and damaged, and they cherished it as if it was a God to them. I thought at the time, what could I do to help these beautiful people who loved the game of football like no other.
Please let me know how I could participate in your project and get these Balinese children one of your balls. It is a very remote place, but I have the email address of one of these kids and would like to help them.
Thank you for your great efforts on behalf of all the active children in this world.
Best regards,

Tim, very inspirational and amazing commitment to bettering the lives of those most in need. I am co-founder of a nonprofit partnering with schools in rural africa, most often impacted by Aids in their community. As you rightly say, any footballs we have donated will puncture or are deflated with not pumps/adaptors to be found. How do I learn more about One World Football and availability?
Best wishes,
Mark.
Dear Mark and Robert,

To all at IC as well, to date there are over 15,000 One World Futbols in Sudan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Rwanda, Uganda, South Africa, Ghana, UK, El Salvador, Galapagos, several South American countries and several places in the far east.
Our goal of one million balls in 3 years is closer yet still a long way off. We have much to do and we look forward to more moral support and good will from our Ice Chamber family!
Blessings to you all. I hope to see you all soon.

I am looking for two of these indestructible footballs to take to Africa with us this summer. We will leave them in Mozambique with a group that works with street children in the city we will be visiting.
How can we make this happen? Help, please!
