Swing Mechanics

Our friend John Monteleone wrote some great tips for “The Perfect Swing:”
- Find personal tempo
- Bell is weightless at the top
- Elbow is slightly bent at the top
- Wrist straight and turned in
- Keep bell close to body
- Eyes follow the bell during down swing
- Core engaged
- Straighten legs during the rocking phase
- Bell travels the body’s midline during swing
- Breath in on the way up, out on the way down
- Swing opposite arm for momentum
- Fingers support bell in downward motion but primary grip is the clasp
- Bend at hips during backswing
- Keep feet flat on the ground
- Generate power from hips moving upwards

Great tips! Now if I can only remember them all
I find that’s the challenge for me–the more kb lifting I do, the more things I realize I need to master. I suppose once you’ve mastered the points, there’s no more thought involved…”be shapeless, like water,” right Steven?
Jen,
The more I learn, the less I know…
