Bronze in Buenos Aires!

IC Athlete Michael Eldred is one step closer to his Olympic dream. He took the Bronze Medal in the Pan American Championships of Judo on Friday in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Pan-Am is one of the toughest competitions in the world!
News from the United States Olympic Committee: “Michael Eldred (Fruitland, Idaho / Western Idaho Judo Institute) and his first opponent, Jose Hipolito (MEX), were each scoreless in the 73kg division when Eldred pinned Hipolito in the last 14 seconds.
In the quarter-finals, Eldred was thrown by two-time Olympic medalist Leandro Guilheiro (BRA). Eldred then dropped down to the repechage where he pinned both Leandro Vaz (URU) and Arturo Zapata (VEN) to advance to the bronze medal match where he choked Francisco Cuneo (ARG).”

Sara, Brenda, and Sherry completed the 4th Annual Big Sur Mud Run on Sunday! “… We ran approx. 5 miles (lots of uphill and sandy terrain) and went through four mud pits, over two 5-foot walls, across one beam and over several road block/hurdle things…”

Congratulations Michael!!! Very exciting!
Wow, Congratulations Michael! We look forward to seeing you on the mat in person!
Go Sara, Brenda, and Sherry!!! What a great event. Was it fun to warm up with a real drill sergeant? Steve edited that part of your story. Please elaborate!
Congratulations Michael!!!
Sara, Brenda, Sherry: congratulations! Mud pits? Awesome! Please do give more details about the drill sergeant.
Go Michael, Sara, Brenda, Sherry. What an incredible weekend for you all!
Congratulations Michael!
Sara, Brenda and Sherry, you look too clean. Did you make the drill sergeant do burpies in the mud?
Congratulations Michael.
The mud run was lots of fun. Steve would be proud of our push ups- which we did under the watchful eye of the drill sergeant!
Maya- the warm up was a little scary because we couldn’t understand what the drill sergeant was saying so we thought that would have to do lots of push ups and burpies for not listening. Yikes…
It is pretty hard to understand the drill sergeant unless you’re Army oriented – you know that IN CADENCE! thing. I can tell you that our drill sergeant and Jessica went to the same school of counting to try to get you to do more. Three push-ups and three jumping jacks were one count. How’s that for an idea, Jess? They were the world’s slowest jumping jacks and then super fast push ups! Must be an Army thing – HOOOA!
I love it Bren!
Thanks for sharing I am in next year!! Congrats to you guys for getting out there and competing!
Congratulations Michael!!!
