Prep for the 2009 BJJ Pan Am Championships
Some of you may have noticed Eduardo and Newton’s early morning workouts at the IC. I feel very honored to work with these two, not only because they are great athletes in the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (they are amongst the best in the world), but also because of their conduct off the mat. The ability to remain humble and wear the hat of a student are rare qualities when you are at the top of the food chain. Even though they both have earned titles at the National and International levels, they always show tremendous respect, humility, and character. These are the hidden attributes that are required to sustain a prolific career in sports. It also says a lot about who they are, not only as athletes, but as people.
Here is a video short documenting some of their training at the IC in preparation for the 2009 Pan Am Championships in late March. Enjoy!
Best,
Steven

Are you freakin’ kidding me?!?! DAMN! You two are insane powerhouses! That’s incredible.
Eduardo and Newton, I am recruiting you two for the 1000 pull-up team challenge. Please?
You folks work hard! Wrapping the rope around the pole and then pulling??? Yeow!
Oh and about this pull-up challenge…They can take my spot!

What a team, congratulations! I am proud of you! Good luck at the PAN.
Eduardo, I hope you get one more gold medal as in the past.
Xoxoxoxoxoxo, Mommy.
The first time I saw these guys, I knew they were Brazilian, wearing their warmth and heart on their sweaty little sleeves! I love walking in and seeing the end of your workout and would LOVE to see you in the Pan-Ams! Steve, will the matches be broadcast anywhere? We’ll be with you guys, don’t doubt it! Fight hard and Boa Sorte!
