Real Kettlebell Lifting Looks Funny

circuitkb

As we move closer to the truth about kettlebell lifting, we have been able to add very technical elements to more of our basic circuits. Many of you may be wondering what the fuss is all about. Are we getting an adequate “workout” even though everything seems so much calmer during these sets?

According to National Champ Marty Farrell’s explanation of the more popularized style of kettlebells, “It ‘looks’ harder. I see people on youtube do a set with half the weight I use and I find myself noting how hard they look like they’re… working. And even though I feel like sh$# I look like I’m ok…”

The story behind the facade is that you’ll simply “learn how to deal with hell with a semi clear head.”

Post your thoughts about Marty’s quote to comments.

Factoid: Weighing only 70 kgs., Marty jerked two 32 kg. kettlebells for 66 consecutive reps in order to rank Master of Sport (black belt in kettlebell lifting). This is an amazing feat for any person regardless of size or strength. If you don’t believe us, try it for yourself.

Just makes me wish I was all zen… I probably look like I’m having a baby when I’m bellin’

  2. Steven says:

To the contrary Mallory – you look very calm and focused. You have a strong future with the bell.

Mallory, last week I did a 10 min. set of jerks. Pure misery. By min. 4, my rack position looked more like a dog going pee-pee… (one leg off the ground and all) but, two days later, I did the same exact set and it was a totally different story. Stay with it girl!!!

  4. Shari says:

I’m looking forward to the day my mind isn’t occupied with self-critiques of my form. It only makes the misery more miserable.

  5. Erin says:

Thank goodness there are no mirrors. But really – you all look fantastic! I love how I start to break a sweat exactly 3 minutes into a set.

  6. Shari says:

Heidy taught a great class tonight full of technique tweaks and lots of sweating. Thanks Heidy!

After this morning’s session, all I can say is nobody else makes it look as hard as it feels for me! I was groaning for the whole ride home…I really need to move somewhere downhill from the Chamber.

Seriously essbee, I really thought I needed to take it up a notch. I think I’m getting too soft these days. It must be age.
