Ann-Maree

Ann-Maree is one of our toughest 7 a.m. bootcampers–she even runs from her house to class in the dark. We’ve been fans for a while, so we made her answer all our questions. And a special message to her husband: We will now help Ann Maree meet her next goal, so watch out!
-What brought you to the Ice Chamber?
I was out of shape due a long period of inactivity and was very unhappy with how I felt. I really needed something to motivate me to exercise and bootcamp seemed like the perfect answer.
-Did you do anything athletic before?
I used to hike and mountain bike a lot, and go waterskiing whenever I got the chance.
-Have you had any major successes/breakthroughs athletically?
My fitness has improved significantly and allowed be to participate in some trail running events. I never thought I would actually enjoy running, but now I find myself running regularly and even trying to improve my time.
-What are your current goals or dreams as far as exercise?
To be able to lift a kettlebell as skillfully as Maya. And to beat my husband in a burpee challenge.
-Anything else we should know or that you wanna add?
Yes, that I’m very glad that I joined the IC. It’s such a wonderful environment full of friendly, inspiring people.

I often see Ann-Maree running to IC, while I’m driving in my car. It’s very impressive! I keep telling myself I’m going to start running to IC too…
Running to an IC workout in the dark, cold morning takes things to another level – hats off to you Ann-Maree! You inspire many who drive by in heated cozy cars…
I’m proud of you Ann-Maree. Even more impressive is your run back home UP hill AFTER the workout!
I’d thought of running to/from the IC but had decided it was a bit far (3 miles each way) until one day Ann-Maree (who happens to be a neighbor) arrived for 7:00 a.m. class on foot, so I had my example that it could be done! (and now we’ve run to/from class together a few times) I love the fact that she didn’t make a big deal about it – just decided to do it. And that wonderful Aussie accent and positive attitude makes her a great running/workout partner.
Not only does Ann-Maree run to the IC in the morning, she rides her bike here at night. Love her attitude and toughness!
