Power Lunge?

Split Snatch

Not quite. Although the split snatch is not as popular as its cousin, the squat snatch, the complexity of it provides our nervous and muscular systems with a great workout too.

Multi-joint, closed kinetic chain exercises involving strength and speed should be practiced under minimum loads while the body first adapts to the movement pattern(s). Though only 8 months postpartum, Amy is beginning to incorporate some power moves into her regimen. Of course, this is done safely using a light dumbbell until her body is ready for the big dogs next time!

Low Wire

Touch the line and you’re out!  An exciting game that requires quadrupedal dexterity as well as strategy.

Go Newton!

Go Newton

Newton fought seven times last night to win the silver medal at the IBJJF Pan American Championships!

Thanks to James, we had some play-by-plays via iPhone:

- Dominated his first opponent, then I think he submitted his guy. Then, his second match….I wish I had a picture, but there wasn’t enough time to take one. O soto gari straight into armbar. Brutal!!!!
Will update as it comes.

- Won his third match by total domination. His fourth was a beautiful guard pass followed by the guy turning inside. Newton jumped on the clock choke, and nailed it hard, earning the submission.

- He took second. Lost in the finals by triangle.

Wheel Tucks

As we roll through the season, progression can be measured by milestones relative to our starting points. What can you do today that you weren’t able to in January? What’s next on your list of physical feats?

7am on the Rise

Mallory

Team 0700 features the combined superpowers of Mallory (blue hair), Lynne, Nani, Mary, Oliver, Joey, Ben G., Cammi, Lorena, Nancee, Ann-Maree, Wendy, Brian, and of course the rhythmic Eric F., just to name a few. When these folks are put to the test, they bring the house down (usually with a deadly dose of dancing and lip syncing).

This is a serious force to be reckoned with.
