    GREAT JOB!

  6. Steven says:

Kim and John wanted to try an athletic event. So what do they do? They enter the “event dubbed the World’s Toughest Sprint Triathlon.” Love it!

Congrats to you both for being kick ass people and fit role models to the kids!

  7. Kerri says:

  10. Lisa B says:

It is very inspiring to watch you two in action…..and such great smiles all throughout – Congratulations Kim and John!

p.s. Steve & Maya – another fantastic video as well – i just love them!

  11. John says:

Wow, thanks everyone! We are so happy with the way things turned out. The weather was great (for February), and we felt well prepared and even better supported.
Kim and I agreed as a New Year’s resolution to do a triathlon this year. If you know Kim, it will come as no surprise that she wanted to do “The World’s Toughest Sprint Triathlon” in early February, explaining the panicked look in my eyes recently. Fear is a great motivator, and I appreciate Kim for lighting a fire under our butts. As I’m writing this I’m watching one of those CNBC stock market shows and they are talking about the amazing increase in sales of Icy/Hot during the last few months (true story), and I feel accountable for it.
We feel so well supported by our IC family! We received so much great coaching, support and well wishes leading up to this, which we really appreciate. Of course the whole culture of support starts with the example that Steve and Maya set (after all, it wasn’t us taking the video!). It was great to hear Steve and Maya’s voices during the race cheering us on, and to see them with Jess at the end smiling as big as we were (Mateo was there too!).
So when we had to buy our single day USA-Triathlon card on Sunday morning to compete, we looked at each other and chose the one year option, and if we do more this year or this one next year, we would love more IC company. Maybe a Bearathlon team next year?

  12. Mani says:

John and Kim, you guys look awesome out there!! All that training paid off and more…huge congratulations to you both.

  13. kim says:

Mani, your personal training regimen last year was so tough and well-rounded that we felt that we could do anything (hence the ridiculous challenge!). It also taught us that we could exercise hard for two hours in a row, which is exactly what we needed. Thank you for all your help and encouragement!

  14. Loredie says:

Wow. Amazing. You both are truly inspiring. Congratulations!

  15. Steven says:

    Kim and John,

I forgot to say: you look MARVELOUS (Billy Crystal voice)!

  16. WendyB says:

Congratulations, you two! I’m sooooo impressed! The great thing is that you looked like you were having fun out there while you were accomplishing great things. Thanks for the inspiration…

  17. Renee says:

I did forget to say…..you both radiate “pure joy!”

  18. Rachel Q says:

That is incredible! If there was an “American Gladiator: Couples Edition,” I would love to watch you two square off against Steven and Maya so we could cheer all four of you on!

Thanks for being two inspiring and amazing people!

  19. Baby Ks Momma says:

One more thing… It was really special to see the look on Tara’s face when you both crossed the finish line.

  20. Bear Bear says:

Thanks for sharing such a cool video. Congrats and wonderful job on your finish!!! Wow you decided at the New Year to do the race. All I can say is WOW…

Maybe you give some pointers to those of us who want to follow in your foot steps?? :-)

  21. Elizabeth says:

Congratulations!!! I am completely impressed and inspired… WOW!

  22. kim says:

Rachel, we may be naive, but not crazy… If we went on Gladiators with Steven and Maya, they would squash us and leave Mateo sitting on our remains…despite the “respect your elders” thing!

Just kidding, Steven and Maya… it meant a whole lot to us to have you cheering us on. Who could have predicted (two years ago when I was just learning to do 3 pushups in a row) what your training would lead to???

We’re looking forward to getting back to the bootcamps to see the new toys!

  23. C1 says:

Ditto on the inspiration. John and Kim never fail to impress me with their strength, skill, and speed.

  24. Shari Washburn says:

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing such an inspirational accomplishment. All the more reason to love Kim and John (as if we need any more reasons).
