OMG! We all look so happy — who would ever know that moments before some of us had this metallic taste in our throats — like blood. I felt like I swallowed a kettle bell. Who knew that 3 elements times 3 repetitions could be … um … so fun.
If you see Steve rubbing his hands together like a mad scientist, mumbling “this is going to brutal” be afraid — very afraid.
I hope we do something enjoyable on my birthday.
Tonight reminded me how the slightest negative thought can work against you and why I continue to enjoy every moment at IC.
Tracy, you are phenomenal and a great partner. Thanks!
You Core folks were awesome last night. Stellar performance from Jess–every single rep was legit mamasita. (I get chills thinking about that pace.)
Can’t leave without a shot out to T-Rex who came in like a supermodel, but then transformed into a zombie when she came back from the dead on Round 2. Then, as you see in the photo, she turned back into the supermodel…
Props to Team Chalk for representing the commando pull-ups too. Man, and who can forget Tony’s last three reps? He fought to the bitter end. Talk about integrity. Go Tony!
I had fun last night. I figured since Steve said it was going to be brutal that would be the best time to come back, that way all other workouts should be a breeze. YEAH RIGHT! I am back so watch out! LOL. Shout out to Calvin. Thank you for the encouragement.
Props to Bday Boy David for completing his birthday with us. Also need to mention that Tony the Tiger finished every pull-up even with ripped paws. Ouch.
Two things I noticed last night: 1) Jess is speed demon 2) my Comrades are no joke.
What’s up with C1 smoking the workout and then leaving the IC smiling???
You know a workout is going to be hard when your heart rate jumps to 145 in anticipation of it. Stevils grin said it all last night. Many, many, many props to my great partner Doug who pressed on even after his grip was gone. The sheer determination was inspiring. I believe that if his arms came off he would swing the kettlebell with his teeth.
Last night reminded me why the IC is such a great place. We push ourselves to the limit and we compete for time, but unlike other places, there is no dog eat dog mentality. No one needs you to fail to feel good about themselves. I watched people set a tough time and then do everything they could to coach their partner to beat it. The enthusiasm was through the roof.
Happy Birthday David. Only a crazy athlete would put themselves through that on their birthday.
Once again I am truly impressed by you guys!!! thanks for a great workout steve! way to come back t-rex:) , welcome back turbo will you still be my DJ?
Happy Birthday David!!
I can’t thank you all more for such an intensely wonderful night!!
I don’t think anyone could have asked for a better birthday present… a big swift kick in the @$$ and a much needed family moment. =) It doesn’t get any better than that! (all together now…. “Awwwwwww”) haha
Much love to you all!! And a big thanks to my partner, Jewel (sp?) and Bear Bear for getting me through those last pull-ups!!
Maya, will you send me a copy of the photo?? This one’s DEFINITELY going on myspace.. hahaha!

-D-
Thursday’s sprint looked awful. It made me very thankful my shoulder was pulled.
I love how much everyone was pulling for everyone else. I was also really really impressed by the amount of inegrity in the room.
David, that this was how you chose to spend your birthday speaks volumes about you. Hope your birthday was all you hoped it would be!
