October Challenge: The Wrist Roller

wrist roller

Inspired by the Thursday night Core group (mostly Kat), we decided to issue another gym-wide challenge (remember the last one?). This time it’s the wrist roller! We still need a consensus on the number of complete rotations to qualify for the win. Let’s just say that 1 round (up and down) is the minimum, but does 10 rounds seem a bit excessive? Post your suggestions to comments. The Jedi Master will issue the verdict as well as complete rules shortly.

what a minute…is it how many rotations in a timed sequence or just how many can you roll it up and down w/o stopping? how big is the weight that you roll or does that vary? It’s been a looong time since I’ve done there.

  2. peter says:

Yikes. The first time I ever did this, it hurt so much that I cried. Literally. Tears. Lots. Hmmm…happened the second time also…

  3. Shari says:

Hells yes 10 is too excessive. I say 5 complete rotations which will give you 10 individual rotations and since it is the 10th month, it’s all good.

  4. paty says:

soooo, let me get this right. you want me to roll that thingy how many times???? i think i’m still recovering from when we did them 3 years ago Maya…but just maybe I’ll take the challenge. how about 4?!?

  5. Steven says:

What about 7 complete rotations? Too many???

  6. Elizabeth says:

    How much weight?

  7. Steven says:

    Measly 5 lbs.

  8. lanling says:

By the way…that crying thing…not really by Peter but by me….I don’t know why he was on my computer…
And 7..way too much! I mean I don’t want to be a wimp but I remember that I barely finished 2!

  9. Shari says:

It’s not the weight, Dr. E. Trust me, 5 pounds feels like 500 after your forearms get all jacked up and you can bareley wind ghe weight up and down. And that’s after 2 rounds…

  10. Elizabeth says:

Oh believe me I know — I asked because I was hoping the weight would be quite low. I’m not sure 5lbs counts as “measly” for this specific task.

  11. Kat says:

I am late to weigh in – but I think 5 rounds sounds like a challenging number on the wrist roller. I also like the idea of a max number of rounds challenge too (maybe secondary challenge?).

  12. Steven says:

Max number challenge is a very sick idea. It really, really hurts.

  13. Baby Ks Momma says:

I remember doing a max challenge on that thing once… on the last round I was squeezing my glutes so strongly that I got a butt cramp afterwards! Who said the wrist roller doesn’t qualify as functional training?

  14. peter says:

HEY!!! I didnt leave the first comment! It was my wife! I never cried ! I AM A MAN!….Jesus!

  15. peter says:

Oh sorry…my wife had already excused….I got so upset I didnt have time to read the other posts…..
