Isn’t She Lovely?

Maina1

Postpartum fitness has been a hot topic around the IC these days, but how many of us out there can imagine giving birth to twins… twice? Maina’s four children are all under 5 years old too. Whoa! As if that isn’t impressive enough, Maina is also the Marketing Director for the Renaissance School (a private, pure Montessori school) that all of her children attend. Did we mention that she’s also a UCB and UCLA alumna? (Go Bears! Go Bruins!) How this supermom finds time to travel here from Oakland at 5:45 a.m. we’ll never know, but we’ve been extremely lucky to have her on the team for more than a year now (we think it’s because she loves Burpies so much).

Classic Maina quote:

“I’m a big football/basketball/science fiction fan AND I’m totally anti-Disney/Princess/Barbie/any commercial form of entertainment for my kids (my kids probably won’t see Disneyland until they can fly there on their own).”

    Talk about awe – inspiring!
Maina simply lights up the place.
I always feel happier — and more dedicated — when she shows up.
I cannot imagine parenting two sets of twins, four amazing kids in their own right.
We are so lucky to have her at 6am!!!!!

  2. Steven says:

Maina is comic. I can’t help but laugh when I’m around her.

  3. Steven says:

Speaking of multi-tasking, what is Maina doing with the medicine ball and the kettlebell at the same time? I’ve never seen this exercise before!

  4. Baby Ks Momma says:

Good question Steve.  Notice how she trains near her car keys too.  She says she has to jam early “for the kids” but I think that’s a.k.a. avoiding KB ab drills.

I was so happy to see you again the other morning. Glad the move is over and you’re back with us at 6AM!!

  6. Renee says:

I love this woman! Altho. the 9:30 class is a better fit for me, I miss seeing the 6 & 7 amers! And Maina is one bright star. She just has a beautiful way of combining fun, friendship and mental toughness at the IC.

  7. Tsan says:

I cannot even tell you how far we go back, but let’s just say I have first hand knowledge of what she looked like in her high school Cheer/song girl uniform: SKYLINE IN THE HOUSE!

  8. Baby Ks Momma says:

I never thought I’d be saying Go Trojans, but there’s a first for everything Tsan! How many people can say they went to the same HS as Tom Hanks, huh? Are there any other ICers who went to Skyline? Scary!

  9. Steven says:

Didn’t Michele go to Skyline as well?

  10. Jennifer says:

Where did Heidy go to high school? I know she’s from around here. I went to school in S.F… haven’t met Maina yet but she sounds amazing.

  11. Jennifer says:

no, wait, Maybe Heidy is from LA… I can’t keep track

  12. Shari says:

Maina? I am in awe of her. I can’t even fathom one sets of twins but two?

Heidy, in all her youthful beauty, still looks like she could be in high school.

  13. Maina says:

First of all, Maya, “No you DI’N'T take those photos of my big a@#! Secondly, please note that I do not root for the Trojans (USC), occasionally root for the Bruins and ALWAYs root for the BEARS – GRRRAH!”

Thanks for the props and the love! You are all inspiring in your own rights!
