Sharon’s Mission

Check out Sharon’s pull-up! This woman is on a mission to improve her fitness level and overall health. She even convinced her teenage niece, Nina, to move in with her for two months of her summer vacation in order to attend IC classes. How is that for family love?
By the way, who else out there wants to improve their pull-up numbers? Let us know so we can help!

Yeah, I’d like to be able to do more than 1 pull-up. Since it’s been well established that I will likely never kip, what’s a girl to do?
yes yes yes! I’ve been practicing, but I need all the help I can get.
yes, me too, more than one pull up would be fantastic! and great job Sharon and to all the great women of the IC for the inspiration – guys too!
Maybe we should do a mini clinic on pull-up progressions. Steve has some really good ideas.
Mars IS GONNA get it… very soon! I feel it in my bones.
It is the HARDEST thing in the world to multiply the pull-up… at least for me.
I’d love to get to three…. This kip thing is a conundrum for several of us despite EXCELLENT training and advice.
It is fun to keep on trying. Best of luck to the three of you!
I happy to help out with the pull up clinic!!!! Maya you have taught me to love pull ups!!
o.k., why am I unable to view any of the other comments? Is my laptop sabatoging my pull-ups progress?
There we go!
I would loooooove a pull-up clinic taught by Maya and Jess! Yeah, bring it!
And Steve, I am not looking for the pull-up secret – just more more more guidance.
Well, with Maya and Jess, how could we go wrong? could we do it now or in sept? Clinics are not allowed in August( since we won’t be here)! But, the comrad in me says when ever you decide is fine!
Actually, there is a pull-up secret. But if I told you, it wouldn’t be a secret anymore… okay what the heck, here it is… when transitioning from the kip to the pull, you have to commit. In other words, your body (especially your lats) needs to tense up immediately after the last swing in order to drive your elbows down toward your ribs. At this point, the angle of elbow flexion must be less than 90 degrees. A lot of people stay loose too long, therefore losing the momentum of the kip and are not able to capture the elbow flexion needed to finish the pull-up. If this happens, the kip becomes a moot point. More “secrets” to come.
