Sugar Snappers

Here is another wonderful recipe from our Dish It Out Tsan series. According to Tsan, “good food feeds the eyes first, then the palate… certain foods need fats or salts to bring out their essence, and omitting an essential ingredient merely because it contains some contraband serves neither the food nor the diner.” Spoken like a true chef! Thus, let’s make it clear to everyone that her recipes are not formulated for weight loss, maximum protein, low GI, or any other health quotient. Her culinary philosophy “comes from a love of food simply for food’s sake, and it is grounded in the belief that food is best in its freshest and most unprocessed state.” Take that Dr. Sears! Just make sure you guys train hard when messing around with Tsan’s delicious creations!

This one is pretty healthy though…

Sugarpeas

SUGAR SNAP PEAS with BLACK SESAME
serves 4

2 cups sugar snap peas, cleaned and dried
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tsp soy sauce
1 teaspoon black sesame seeds
1/4 teaspoon sea salt (please don’t use manufactured salt — it’s bitter)

Throw all ingredients together in a bowl and toss. Serve.

Goes well with seared tuna.

I heard a rumor that Tsan is bringing treats to 7 a.m. tomorrow.

OK, so I’m late to the party….but I have to chime in to say that if you haven’t yet tried last week’s roasted corn and tomato salad recipe, you don’t know what you’re missing! It was so good, and so easy. I’ll be making it all summer long.

The sugar snap peas recipe looks divine as well. Keep ‘em coming! I am desperate to break out of my tofu-and-steamed-broccoli routine!
