Go Renee Go!

Renee DL
Renee Hoyer-Nielsen, mother of two, is on a mission. By paying her dues at the Chamber, she recently lost 17lbs. (and counting), deadlifted well over 200 lbs, rid herself of thyroid problems, developed “crazy great” cholesterol levels, and achieved her FIRST pull-up today. Who would ever guess that she has had not one, but two ACL surgeries! One year ago, she could barely bend her knees to squat on a bench. Renee has transformed herself from rehabilitation patient to athlete!

I’m speechless Renee. Congrats on the pull-up! You look amazing too.

  2. Steven says:

I will be the first to say that Renee has me fired up! When I first met Renee, we were trying to figure out a way for her to workout around all the injuries. These days, she is doing power cleans, bench pressing, running, swinging poppa bell, and coaching new members. What an inspiration!

I almost didn’t recognize you this morning — not that I can even see at 6am… But I noticed when you were doing the deadly wheel that you looked COMPLETELY different. Congratulations! Amazing stamina and determination. You are a great example for us all!

Nicely done Renee. I love your determination and seeing your amazing progress from month to month. Great job on the pull-up….keep up the great work! You know what’s funny, whenever I tell people I meet about the IC, someone almost always says “Do you know Renee?” I always reply “Renee is awesome!”

  12. Renee says:

top 10 reasons I go to the IC- not fully in order-
    10. I can buy belts now
    9. to have the BEST trainers in the world. I don’t want to tell too many people for fear Oprah will find them and then I can’t have them -see I’m selfish-that’s new too
    8. to play as I work out and sweat….alot
    7. to hear Steve say, “no those jeans don’t look too tight, good job” and “i know you can now lift Rune out of a burning building”!
    6. Shari’s inspirational food journal, thanks!
    5. my kids beg to come with us to the IC
    4. to hear my son ask at the dinner table “what personal records did you break today, mom”! (that didn’t happen a year ago!)
    3. to be a role model to my kids for our future and theirs
    2. to be my husband’s workout buddy again
    1. the fellow IC’s that encourage and inpsire me everyday

Thanks to all for your kind comments, encouragement and support. I wouldn’t have stayed with it if it weren’t for Steve and May’s first contagious enthusiam ( my first thought after meeting them, “are they for real!” Oh yes! and then the trainers and my fellow workout partners! It is one special family.

Glad to see your back Tracy! Rune and I are happy to go on a 3 week vacation too-but ….will miss the IC. Thankfully Steve has given some workouts and Rune is oh so self motivated!

  13. Turbo says:

    Way to go Renee!!!

  14. Shari says:

Renee, you are totally my hero! Thanks for all of the inspiration and for keeping me grounded when I got injured. Let’s work on getting more than one pull-up together.

You rock! Oh, and your husband? The. Nicest. Guy. Ever. Not hard to figure out what you see in each other.

  15. Mojo Rising says:

Congratulations on your first (of many to come!) pull up! There’s nothing like the first time…

  16. Bear Bear says:

Wonderful news Renee! Maybe you can teach me your pull up techniques like how you taught me to swim many moons ago??

  17. John says:

Renee, you are the energizer bunny of the ice chamber…you just keep going, and going, and going…you work out before our 9:30 session, and then after, and then at other sessions – you’re inspiring, and the results show.

  18. Renee says:

Sheri-I do agree, Rune is the nicest guy. Thanks again to all.
