April Fools’ Day

Kim and Lan-Ling

Kim (in red) and Lan-Ling (in white) share a significant birthday… today, April Fools’ Day! Other things they share in common: two young children (though Kim also has a fabulous stepson, Alex who trains with us too), husbands who once worked for the same company in London, a love of gourmet cuisine, and a proclivity for rowing, squatting, and pressing movements. We know Lan-Ling is of Chinese descent, but we still think they should research some family history to find out if they’re fraternal twins that were separated at birth… then they can thank the IC for reuniting them someday.

Happy Birthday to these two lovely ladies!

Kim and Lang-Ling are two strong and beautiful ladies that inspire all of us. They make our work as trainers very easy. Happy B-day twins!

  2. John says:

Kim also has some very frozen underwear that she had to fish out of the freezer this morning. She tells me that she would love to demonstrate 29 reps on the evil wheel for the class tomorrow in celebration of her 29th b-day!

  3. John says:

BTW, there’s that guy standing around again behind her…demonstrating the standing mill again?

  4. Baby Ks Momma says:

They both have great form in the photo too. Happy Birthday gals! Hey, that guy in the back needs to practice the standing mill without holding his hands on his hips! …and where the hell is Peter in the pic? (I heard he was busy bugging Oliver.)

  5. John says:

Speaking of the standing mill, Peter was just watching that day! 45 minutes of the standing mill! What’s that about? Can I choose to observe once in a while? No way!

  6. Bear Bear says:

    Happy Birthday Kim & Lan-Ling

Happy birthday ladies. Kim, you gave yourself a great bday present today on the pull ups-congrats-we should had a photo of that!

  8. Mani says:

Happy Birthday to the twins (with all the things you ladies have in common, I’m sure you are)!!

Yes, supposedly Peter had a good excuse for not participating…hmmm.

AND…a special congratulations to Kim today for making her first pull-up, GO KIM!!!

  9. John says:

I do need to mention how lucky I feel to have the love of my life as my training partner too!

  10. Steven says:

Kim’s been working diligently on her pull-up since last year, doing variations of jumping pull-ups, pull-up holds, and band assisted pull-ups at the end of each training session. It’s extra special (weep, weep) to see the practice pay off. GO KIM!

  11. Baby Ks Momma says:

Shari, I see you back there on the treadmill. Great work being patient and cooperative through your recovery. I’m sure it feels really great to be back in action though. :-) Juliet and Elisha, please learn from her in this regard–patience pays off!!! Now, if only I can take my own advice…

Kim, I always wish people Happy Birthday when they reach their first pull-up so Happy B-day times two on this one! One last bit about Lan-Ling… she is one of the toughest female athletes at the IC–really. The woman does not give up (unless there is really good food around).  Btw, John is the sweetest athlete at the IC.

  12. Shari says:

Happy Birthday women! Lan-Ling, I hope your birthday lunch was fab (and Peter, I hope you felt well enough to enjoy it)!

Kim, it was soooooo exciting to see you do your pull-up!!! What a great birthday present.

And Maya, I am so stoked to be working out again but I feel like a newbie all over. My whole body is (good) sore and everything gets my heart racing.

You are the queen of patience my dear. My mom says you should scrub the floor on your hands and knees – that’s what brought on both her labors. Go out, eat some wicked spicy food, come home, scrube the floors, and maybe, just maybe Baby K will finally say, “What the hell is going on out there?!” and pop out.

  13. Lan-Ling says:

Thanks for all the birthday wishes! Sorry, I didn’t respond sooner but we spent the Easter week holidays camping in Death Valley with our boys. Kim did her first pull up? Darn! She beat me on the rower and now on the pull ups. I guess I gotta get going on that now. Thanks alot, Kim. ;-)

It IS strange how John is always milling about in all the photos….what’s up with that?

My birthday lunch was delicious, thank you. Food is my number one nemisis, as Steve knows since he weighed me in last Friday….but the shock of the number on the scale has made me vow to eat soup and tofu for the rest of my life….or at least for a couple of weeks. So, if I am grumpy at 9:30…you know why….I am starving….
