Take It Easy

Dave C. and Team Cleans

With 10 days left until the Pan American Championships, we decreased the workout intensity for Dave (BJJ Black Belt), James (BJJ Brown Belt), and Newton (BJJ Blue Belt/ Judo Blackbelt). The intentional modification will help the athletes’ performance peak at competition time and not to mention, avoid the risk of possible injury before the fight.

Dave will defend his gold medal from 2003 while James and Newton will try to capture their first. Good luck guys!

Fyi, Newton has only been practicing BJJ for less than 1 year. He has never witnessed a BJJ competition in his entire life. Actually, he’s never even seen footage of a matchup and is entering what most in the sport consider the highest level of competition in the world for any one BJJ tournament. His bracket is stacked with over 70 competitors. That means if Newton survives round 1, he willl have to fight 5 to 6 more times to capture the gold. Each match is six minutes long. Personally, I think he’ll do just fine. Being a national Judo champion in Brazil helps :-)
