Take It Easy

With 10 days left until the Pan American Championships, we decreased the workout intensity for Dave (BJJ Black Belt), James (BJJ Brown Belt), and Newton (BJJ Blue Belt/ Judo Blackbelt). The intentional modification will help the athletes’ performance peak at competition time and not to mention, avoid the risk of possible injury before the fight.
Dave will defend his gold medal from 2003 while James and Newton will try to capture their first. Good luck guys!

Good luck guys!! Kick some major ass!
You guys have been working so hard–never missing a training session. Your conditioning is solid. Phenomenal athletes. Good luck! We are all wishing you the best.
Fyi, Newton has only been practicing BJJ for less than 1 year. He has never witnessed a BJJ competition in his entire life. Actually, he’s never even seen footage of a matchup and is entering what most in the sport consider the highest level of competition in the world for any one BJJ tournament. His bracket is stacked with over 70 competitors. That means if Newton survives round 1, he willl have to fight 5 to 6 more times to capture the gold. Each match is six minutes long. Personally, I think he’ll do just fine. Being a national Judo champion in Brazil helps
I can still out row him (Newton)…Lol
if that was easing off yesterday, sheesh…
Good luck guys…its always wonderful to see some major athletes in action. I’m sure you guys will do great!
I’ll throw my 2 cents in here, the Pan American Championships are really the top of the sport, this is a huge thing these guys are gearing up for. Good luck, kick some butt!
