The Ice Chamber was founded in 2004 by Steven Khuong, CSCS and Maya Garcia, CSCS. Certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), they have helped people of all ages and conditions surpass their fitness goals. They built the Ice Chamber from the ground up and today the clientele spans the entire health spectrum from beginners to elite athletes.
After earning their undergraduate degrees from the University of California at Berkeley, the Ice Chamber was born into the tradition of applying research in real world environments. Utilizing bodyweight conditioning, sports specific training, weightlifting, bodybuilding, martial arts, and kettlebell lifting — they incorporate a training style that enhances functional capacity while improving physical composition. They efficacy of Ice Chamber programming can be found in the success of internationally renowned athletes and record holders in combat, strength, and kettlebell sport, as well as police, firefighters, and first responders.
In 2009, their son was diagnosed with autism and Maya’s involvement at the gym naturally waned in order to focus on managing development and educational services for their family.
With more than a decade of industry leadership experience, Steven is the Head Coach of the Ice Chamber Kettlebell Sport Team, the most successful Kettlebell Sport team in the nation as well as a Club Coach with USA Weightlifting (USAW, a member of the United States Olympic Committee). Steven is also a Level I Coach with USA Track and Field (USATF, U.S. Olympic Committee, NCAA, and NAIA).
The Ice Chamber holds the prestigious position of CEU/CEC Provider as approved by National Academy of Sports Medicine and American Council on Exercise to grant continuing education units / credits to professionals in the fitness industry.
Jessica DiBiase is a Master Performance Coach who draws on her personal experiences gained as a competitive triathlete and former gymnast. She also holds a Masters Degree in Organizational Communication, delivering the highest standards in service quality.
With over a decade of industry experience, Jessica continues fitness traditions that are unique to the Ice Chamber. Jessica is an International Kettlebell Sport Champion, a renowned Kettlebell Coach, and is a Master of Sport in both Long Cycle and Biathlon.
Sara Nelson is a World Champion Kettlebell Athlete (2015 IUKL Worlds), Master of Sport, and certified personal trainer. In additional to managing training programs and coaching, Sara heads the operational functions at Ice Chamber. Tasked with leading the Ice Chamber Kettlebell Team, Sara has helped produced multiple national record holders in Kettlebell Sport, including the youngest Master of Sport in the country.
She is an avid adventure racer, food lover, and traveler. When not at the gym, Sara can be found in outdoors activities with her young active twins.
